Testimonial
“The training was a great experience. Being able to have such a personally tailored learning experience was a great opportunity for me. It filled many gaps in my knowledge of the hardware/software and enhanced my ability to apply this to my work, training, and studies. I look forward to applying what I’ve learned and hope to come back for the Sports Psychology Training in the spring.”

The Science of Heart Rate Variability Biofeedback (HRVB) with Dr. Richard Gevirtz

Friday, May 30, 2014
9:00-5:00pm

Thought Technology Montreal
8205 Montréal/Toronto Blvd
Montreal West, QC H4X 1N1

Limited space! Register prior to April 30, 2014 and take advantage of the early registration fee.

This workshop morning session covers the fundamentals of HRVB including issues of HRV recording, measurement, and analyses and general protocols. This will include ECG and PPG measurement, Time and Frequency domain analyses and interpretation of baseline and stress recovery data and a step-by-step hands-on protocol for the biofeedback procedures.

The afternoon session is devoted to discussing physiological and clinical interpretation of the various HRV related metrics. As an example, the Sympathetically Mediated Trigger Point pain model will be presented. This presents a mediational model to explain how chronic muscle pain can be affected by the autonomic nervous system. Then the HRVB protocol from the morning session is used as part of the (empirically supported) biofeedback protocol. We wrap up with a brief survey of other HRVB applications.
